BEGINNING THE NEET PREPARATIONS

THIS POST IS PRIMARILY FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CLASS 11TH

Now you have thought to become a doctor or get into a medical college then just forget everything, every second thoughts about it .
You may have been a topper of your school or your class or a average(so called) student . Your 10th class grade is not going to help you anywhere in life except as a date of birth proof.
Do not think your self as a science prodigy or underestimate your self.
These 2 academic year of class 11th and 12th will decide that you will be a doctor or not or in how many attempts.
Yes, it can take 2-3-4 attempts to clear if you will not utilize your time effectively during these 2 year

For now think only one thing and that is you have yo score 600+ marks .
Now I am going to deal subject wise about how to study it and which books you should follow.

BIOLOGY   (90 Questions)

Biology has Half of the weight-age of whole question paper.
Around 80-84 questions are from NCERT but it is not always direct question. Concept based and its applications are in trend now.
Unfortunately almost every pmt aspirants think that they are the expert of this subject and it does not need proper attention.
But remember this is the part where you overestimate yourself and biology gives you most negatives in exam.
So prepare sincerely for it.
Target must be to score 340+ marks in biology.

To prepare biology you need -

1)NCERT biology of class 11th and 12th.

2)Test series questions of Allen Career Institute.

3)Trueman's Biology.

At 1st for biology preparations you should study the chapter/topic from NCERT very peacefully and sincerely. Understanding NCERT by self is little bit harder.Hence study the same topic from Trueman.
Make notes, flow diagrams and mind maps of concepts and facts from ncert and then include extra points which is not included in ncert but given in Trueman's with different color of pen.
Notes should be very concise. Remember you have to make note not to write another book.
Use different colors to write.
After finishing all these. Take out topic wise question papers of Allen's test series. Set a fixed time duration for solving it. You should try to solve 90 questions in 45 minutes.
Do not get distracted during this time period. Switch off your mobile phones.
After finishing the paper take break of 10-15 minutes then check it for answers. Mark the questions you have done wrong and write it in your notebook where you have written that topic.
After finishing half of the syllabus you should practice like this daily for every subject not only for biology.
Try to minimize the wrong attempts.
Allen's test series questions are best available material in biology. Almost every question is concept based.
If you practice and study like this till the time of examination you can score 340+ marks in biology easily.

CHEMISTRY

Total weight-age of chemistry is 45 questions.

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY(15 questions)

Around 5-6 question  are from reaction mechanism , 3-4 from bio-molecules, polymers, chemistry in everyday life and environmental chemistry.
Rest questions are from nomenclature and General organic chemistry.

TO Prepare OrganicChemistry you need-

1) Elementary problems in Organic  chemistry  by MS CHOUHAN

2)Jee main and Aipmt previous year papers

3) Ignou's book of ORGANIC CHEMISTRY and  REACTION MECHANISM( CHE-05,06)

4)NCERT

I have seen almost every 2nd pmt aspirant trying to learn reactions. It is a very common practice . But does it seems practical ? How can you learn all the reactions of preparations of alkane, alkene ,alkyne, alcohol, aldehyde and many more organic compounds?
It does not needs to be remembered . All you need is to understand the reaction mechanism.
If you can find someone good to teach you reaction mechanisms then it will be very fine .
Otherwise you can understand it by yourself only using IGNOU's book.
After finishing topics from ignou you must practise the questions from MS CHOUHAN and NCERT .
Ignou books have also covered isomerism and nomenclature in a very good and well explained manner. You will not need any tutor for it.
Set a fixed day in every week to solve previous year question from jee main and aipmt.
Try to solve 45 questions in 30 minutes in a exam like environment without any distractions.

PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY(15 QUESTION)

Questions asked in physical chemistry in any of the entrance exams at 10+2 level mainly tests basic understanding of the concepts. And believe me it is the easiest topic if you don't be lazy in solving simple mathematics i.e divide and multiply.
Almost all question in NEET is formula based.

My advice for study material-

1)NCERT

2)Previous year papers of Jee Main and Aipmt.

3) Any coaching institute's JEE PACKAGE like Allen's or Fiitjee 's.

At 1st cover the theory part from ncert very well . Then cover it from any coaching institute's material. At beginning Solve the questions topic wise only.
Do not skip any topic from physical . Redox reactions have very much application in other sections also like in calculating oxidation number and valency factors in Stochiometry and Inorganic chemistry .
Very important thing is to remember and retain all the basic formulas of each topic. While you study the topics make a short formula note book and keep writing the important formulas. You have to keep revising this formula note book on daily basis.
Do not be lazy to calculate while solving questions because this is the point where you do mistakes. Also there is very little time in the NEET exam and all you need is fast calculation because physical paper does not have much to do other than this.
Practice 45 question in 30 minutes.
Write things on small piece of paper as you can revise anything written on it at any place like while pooping , traveling , eating etc .If You want to learn anything keep revisiting it many times as you can.

INORGANIC CHEMISTRY(15 QUESTION)

Like biology many of the aspirants take inorganic chemistry too lightly thinking that it only needs to be learnt.Yes It has many things to remember but learning with proper reason will last longer and will make the concepts clear. Learning the facts is easy but applying them in questions requires proper practice .

For inorganic -

1) NCERT

2)Previous year's JEE question paper and AIPMT paper.

3) Problems in inorganic chemistry for jee main and advance by V.K jaiswal

you can buy it from amazon

Read the theory from NCERT , you may make notes from it but in the end you will end up copying the whole text . So I advice just write down important key concepts only.
After finishing the theory solve that topic from V.K jaiswal's book .
Like I have said before practice the previous year papers in  exam like environment at leat once in a week .

Revision is the key the more you revise the less negatives you will do .

PHYSICS (45 QUESTION)

Most of the pmt aspirants devote their most study hours in physics and still score less in exams .
The main reason is that they do not clear their basics first . Generally everyone goes after famous JEE main books without having the fundamentals and basic concepts clear .
Start from basics first .

For physics you need-

1) NCERT

2) One Basic level objective book like Dinesh , Pradeep, Universal or any other

3) DC Pandey's JEE Main and advance book which come in many parts.( ONLY AFTER FINISHING THE BASIC LEVEL BOOK)

4) Previous year papers of JEE Main and AIPMT (chapter wise)

At the beginning must study the theory and concepts from ncert sincerely. You may take help of any other reference books for theory.
Then solve the problems from any basic level mcq book .Only after solving basic questions and   having the Chapter's fundamental concepts clear move on to the same chapter given in DC Pandey's book.
While solving the problems always make the diagram.
Do not skip or take vectors lightly , this the tool which you will need in physics at many places .

Practice the previous year paper in exam like environment .
Try to solve the 45 question in 45 minutes.
Make your own formula note book and keep revising the formulas.
Many questions are formula based in the NEET and even sometimes just formula is asked in some question.
If you have the concepts, many times you do not need to solve the problems .

Giving proper exam simulated test is very important . As it makes you aware about the time limit and it will reduce your exam related fear. After each test must evaluate your self where you are lagging behind.

I suggest to join test series of good institute so that you can keep up the pace for the whole 2 years.

NEET need proper understanding of concepts and fast problem solving attitude . Try to find reason behind every thing , every questions , every facts . Only learning and solving same type of problems can not take you through the exams .
