FROM THE EDITOR

Dear,
Young Citizens,
Warm Greetings!

Yes I said “Young Citizens” to the boys and girls who are in their teen age, with guess that most of you are under eighteen years, NEET aspirants. I also guess that probably I am the first one who might have addressed with the word citizen. I did so because I believe most of the time our socio-political and cultural system do not consider person below eighteen years of age to be the citizen of country (off course constitutionally you are) . This does not mean you are not Indian. You are Indian too like any other person who is above eighteen but there remain several issues unaddressed by systems for the persons who are under eighteen years of age and said to be children. That is why it is necessary that we should use word citizens for all irrespective of the age. We consider children to be fragile so we do not load them with responsibility, we don’t remind them for any kind of duty.
So, may I ask what is your responsibility (if there is any), towards your family, society nation and most importantly towards yourself? If you have not thought yet then think before if it’s too late for this age. One thing we must understand that in each age group we have some untold responsibility and that has to be delivered in that frame of time. Once you cross your age for certain things you won’t get second chance for that.
Most of you are away from home and preparing for NEET, even if some of you reading this at home are not entirely at different position and in different situations. So I was saying about your responsibility. Did you get to know what’s that by the time you read it in upper lines and reached till here? If you did not thought yet then let me remind you are a preparatory student who is liability on the family, society and on Nation too. A lot of efforts are invested on you people by your family and institutions. You need to return back in the form of NEET AIR. Your most important duty is to deliver preparation with optimum calibre, commitment, and time management. Once you get through NEET you have performed your duty for which you have been responsible during those years of preparations.
Why it was necessary for me to start talking with the word citizens, duty, responsibility and all and ending with your results? It is because various forces are working on you to not let you perform your duty well and fail at the end. These forces are your surroundings. Surroundings include your smart phone, your roommate, your mess environment, your leisure period in coaching and if not the last but least your last minutes before you fall asleep. All these elements matter together for you during phase of preparation. These must be healthy, constructive and focused towards your goals.
Do your surroundings drag you to the discussion which is not important for your subject? Like what is going on in political system of our country, what is happening in Bollywood, which institute is best for NEET or else what is there to gossip about a girl on whom your best friend has crush. If you are engaged in such talks in your leisure time then trust me you are not being entertained rather you are being distracted from your mind which has learned something new in last few hours before your gossip. You are pushing your mind to forget what you studied in last few hours. Getting entertainment should involve only those activity which is one sided, means there should not be any further discussion on it with your friends. Like watching movie sometimes and ending it in theatre itself. Treat yourself with some delicious foods and desserts.
But involving in discussion which often leads to arguments disturb so badly that sometimes you don’t even feel why you are not able to focus on study. Trust me it is worthless to discuss on surgical strike and demonetization. Your opinion are not being heard by anyone other than your friends and do not matter for them too. You are not preparing for UPSC or you are not student of political science or let it be journalism. To correct you, you are not college student that you need be political neither you are expected be political. You will get your opportunity for that once you are in medical college where you can have ideology for anything or everything. Besides college curriculum you must be political but you need to reach there first.
Avoid talks and debate in your room, mess and in leisure of coaching. I know every things reaches you by social media but not that actually should reach to you. Several apps reminds you much of the information daily but none reminds you anything before you fall asleep about the content that you read each day. No apps are there for revision just before you sleep, because no apps can read your mind while you are reading your textbooks.
So my young friends you have to do it by yourself, just minute before you fall asleep to remind what you have read entire day. You also need to tell your mind before sleeping about your tomorrow’s target of syllabus. Sleeping without thinking what you have read is like travelling without tickets. You can be fined if you are caught or else you are lucky if you are not caught by TTE. So don’t be dependent on luck because it always favours the prepared minds.
This is all for the day. Be focused and be cool.

Thank you

NEET/AIIMS: WHAT NOT TO DO DURING PREPARATIONS

From many sources we get the knowledge about what TO DO in order to get the success. But despite of knowing this, most of the people fail. Have you ever wondered why? This is so because we just ignore what NOT TO DO.
In this post I am going to talk about the things which you should avoid while doing the NEET /AIIMS preparations.

  1. DO NOT READ FROM MULTIPLE SOURCES :
Majority of the students, during the whole course of preparations keeps surfing many books but practice no book perfectly. You should know one thing very clearly more every 10+2 books contain more or less same contents. It may vary in the quality of questions only. Keeping in mind about the level of questions of NEET/AIIMS you have to choose proper book for practice. I have suggested the book list which you may refer to. If you are not taking guidance of any teacher then apart from NCERT you need only one book to study the theory part and one book for mcqs.

  2. DO NOT FOOL YOUR SELF;
Having books in front of you and day dreaming is not studying. Stop it as soon as possible. Every second PMT aspirant use to boast about their study duration." I read 12 hours, I read 15 hours "etc. but most of the time they just keep wondering about what will happen if he/she become doctor, the girl/boy which he/she  has crush on , video games, movies etc. It is impossible to study continuously more than 1 hour with effective concentration. Do not fool yourself. Have breaks in between the study and while studying SWITCH OFF THE MOBILE. Know one thing after procrastination; Mobile phones are your biggest enemy.

3. DO NOT FALL FOR JEE BOOKS;
Students use to think that if I solve the advance problems I would be able to solve the basic ones. But nothing works like this. If you have your basic clear then only you will be able to solve the advance problems. For having your basic clear first solve basic mcqs and practice them well. I have seen many students solving H.C Verma but they do not know properly how to draw free body diagram. Just do not do this type of foolishness. Showing off in between your peer group will not get you through NEET .

NEET 2017

IT IS TOUGHER NOW BUT THAT'S WHY YOU HAVE TO DO IT. PROVIDED WITH ADEQUATE TIME MANY HAS DONE IT BUT THOSE WHO WANT IT BADLY DO IT FURIOUSLY . YOU CAN LEARN MANY THINGS FROM OUR  M.S DHONI  . HE DOES NOT THINK ABOUT CONSEQUENCES HE JUST KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO WIN REGARDLESS OF THE TIME LEFT AND GIVES HIS BEST.

From now, only 6 month has left to prepare for the NEET 2017 and even if you have just the basic idea about the concepts of 11th and 12th you can clear the exam in 6 months also . First 6 months of the year are very important but this last 6 months are game changer . Many students work hard during 1st phase but lose their enthusiasm during this last 6 months.  Things which has been learnt in the month of June seems new (without proper revision) in the month of April when students revise it for final preparations. So it just does not matter that you studied or not if you can not recall it at the exam time.
This last 6 months from November to April is going to decide your result if you have not studied well earlier and if you have studied well then these months can get you a good rank or even can get you out of the merit list.

WHAT TO DO IN LAST SIX MONTHS-
  • Have you analysed your performance till today? Identify your mostly covered topics, fresh topics about which you do not know anything and the topics about which you have some idea .
  • Do you think you are expert in Biology? Though you find yourself good with biology do not dare to take it lightly.
  • Set small immediate targets. Divide the whole syllabus into 4 section including all three Biology, Physics,Chemistry .Start finishing it section wise.If you have joined some test series then make your section division according to the test.
  • Make a time table for the whole day giving equal slot for each subjects. You have to give 2 hours for each subject i.e BIOLOGY ,PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY for self study at least and give separate 1 hr/ subject for revising the topics learned from your self made short notes and highlighted matters from the book.
  • Do you think procrastination is cool thing to do? Now you can not afford to be lazy. Do not give second thoughts to your prepared time table and strictly follow it at any cost .
  • Clear your every doubt which comes in front of you while reading . You can ask your teacher, friends or you can ask me on this blog's comment section. I will try to solve as soon as I find time. Watch youtube videos related to that topic.
  • Join a test series if you have not joined and take it seriously. But remember not to expect 70% marks without preparing for the whole test syllabus. It will be best if you study according to test syllabus and appear for tests. But in most of the test series many questions of  Biology are out of NCERT books so do not worry about them . You just have to prepare it from NCERT, almost 82-84 Questions are from NCERT in the NEET .
  • Practice  MCQs in time bound manner. 45 question in 45 minutes and do not get up in between this 45 minutes.
  • Follow the book which you have studied till now and do not switch over the new.
  • 70% questions asked in the NEET are of basic and fundamental in nature. You must have all the Formulas on your tips which is given in NCERT of Physics and Chemistry . Almost 10-12 question out of 45 in both physics and chemistry are formula based and very simple. If you can not do these questions then it is very lame thing to do with the preparations of NEET.
  • In Physics and Chemistry solve NCERT questions at first and it is of very high importance. DO NOT skip solving NCERT even it seems time taking and lengthy question.
  • Do not solve MCQs from any JEE ADVANCE books or it's previous year papers . Try to stick to the books and questions of PMT (AIPMT and various state PMT previous year papers). If you can study for 12 hours then only solve JEE MAIN previous year papers in separate allotted time.

NEXT POST WILL BE ON WHAT NOT TO DO IN THE LAST SIX MONTH OF PREPARATION

BEGINNING THE NEET PREPARATIONS

THIS POST IS PRIMARILY FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CLASS 11TH

Now you have thought to become a doctor or get into a medical college then just forget everything, every second thoughts about it .
You may have been a topper of your school or your class or a average(so called) student . Your 10th class grade is not going to help you anywhere in life except as a date of birth proof.
Do not think your self as a science prodigy or underestimate your self.
These 2 academic year of class 11th and 12th will decide that you will be a doctor or not or in how many attempts.
Yes, it can take 2-3-4 attempts to clear if you will not utilize your time effectively during these 2 year

For now think only one thing and that is you have yo score 600+ marks .
Now I am going to deal subject wise about how to study it and which books you should follow.

BIOLOGY   (90 Questions)

Biology has Half of the weight-age of whole question paper.
Around 80-84 questions are from NCERT but it is not always direct question. Concept based and its applications are in trend now.
Unfortunately almost every pmt aspirants think that they are the expert of this subject and it does not need proper attention.
But remember this is the part where you overestimate yourself and biology gives you most negatives in exam.
So prepare sincerely for it.
Target must be to score 340+ marks in biology.

To prepare biology you need -

1)NCERT biology of class 11th and 12th.

2)Test series questions of Allen Career Institute.

3)Trueman's Biology.

At 1st for biology preparations you should study the chapter/topic from NCERT very peacefully and sincerely. Understanding NCERT by self is little bit harder.Hence study the same topic from Trueman.
Make notes, flow diagrams and mind maps of concepts and facts from ncert and then include extra points which is not included in ncert but given in Trueman's with different color of pen.
Notes should be very concise. Remember you have to make note not to write another book.
Use different colors to write.
After finishing all these. Take out topic wise question papers of Allen's test series. Set a fixed time duration for solving it. You should try to solve 90 questions in 45 minutes.
Do not get distracted during this time period. Switch off your mobile phones.
After finishing the paper take break of 10-15 minutes then check it for answers. Mark the questions you have done wrong and write it in your notebook where you have written that topic.
After finishing half of the syllabus you should practice like this daily for every subject not only for biology.
Try to minimize the wrong attempts.
Allen's test series questions are best available material in biology. Almost every question is concept based.
If you practice and study like this till the time of examination you can score 340+ marks in biology easily.

this is an example of mind map

CHEMISTRY

Total weight-age of chemistry is 45 questions.

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY(15 questions)

Around 5-6 question  are from reaction mechanism , 3-4 from bio-molecules, polymers, chemistry in everyday life and environmental chemistry.
Rest questions are from nomenclature and General organic chemistry.

TO Prepare OrganicChemistry you need-

1) Elementary problems in Organic  chemistry  by MS CHOUHAN

2)Jee main and Aipmt previous year papers

3) Ignou's book of ORGANIC CHEMISTRY and  REACTION MECHANISM( CHE-05,06)

4)NCERT

I have seen almost every 2nd pmt aspirant trying to learn reactions. It is a very common practice . But does it seems practical ? How can you learn all the reactions of preparations of alkane, alkene ,alkyne, alcohol, aldehyde and many more organic compounds?
It does not needs to be remembered . All you need is to understand the reaction mechanism.
If you can find someone good to teach you reaction mechanisms then it will be very fine .
Otherwise you can understand it by yourself only using IGNOU's book.
After finishing topics from ignou you must practise the questions from MS CHOUHAN and NCERT .
Ignou books have also covered isomerism and nomenclature in a very good and well explained manner. You will not need any tutor for it.
Set a fixed day in every week to solve previous year question from jee main and aipmt.
Try to solve 45 questions in 30 minutes in a exam like environment without any distractions.

PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY(15 QUESTION)

Questions asked in physical chemistry in any of the entrance exams at 10+2 level mainly tests basic understanding of the concepts. And believe me it is the easiest topic if you don't be lazy in solving simple mathematics i.e divide and multiply.
Almost all question in NEET is formula based.

My advice for study material-

1)NCERT

2)Previous year papers of Jee Main and Aipmt.

3) Any coaching institute's JEE PACKAGE like Allen's or Fiitjee 's.

At 1st cover the theory part from ncert very well . Then cover it from any coaching institute's material. At beginning Solve the questions topic wise only.
Do not skip any topic from physical . Redox reactions have very much application in other sections also like in calculating oxidation number and valency factors in Stochiometry and Inorganic chemistry .
Very important thing is to remember and retain all the basic formulas of each topic. While you study the topics make a short formula note book and keep writing the important formulas. You have to keep revising this formula note book on daily basis.
Do not be lazy to calculate while solving questions because this is the point where you do mistakes. Also there is very little time in the NEET exam and all you need is fast calculation because physical paper does not have much to do other than this.
Practice 45 question in 30 minutes.
Write things on small piece of paper as you can revise anything written on it at any place like while pooping , traveling , eating etc .If You want to learn anything keep revisiting it many times as you can.

INORGANIC CHEMISTRY(15 QUESTION)

Like biology many of the aspirants take inorganic chemistry too lightly thinking that it only needs to be learnt.Yes It has many things to remember but learning with proper reason will last longer and will make the concepts clear. Learning the facts is easy but applying them in questions requires proper practice .

For inorganic -

1) NCERT

2)Previous year's JEE question paper and AIPMT paper.

3) Problems in inorganic chemistry for jee main and advance by V.K jaiswal

you can buy it from amazon

Read the theory from NCERT , you may make notes from it but in the end you will end up copying the whole text . So I advice just write down important key concepts only.
After finishing the theory solve that topic from V.K jaiswal's book .
Like I have said before practice the previous year papers in  exam like environment at leat once in a week .

Revision is the key the more you revise the less negatives you will do .

PHYSICS (45 QUESTION)

Most of the pmt aspirants devote their most study hours in physics and still score less in exams .
The main reason is that they do not clear their basics first . Generally everyone goes after famous JEE main books without having the fundamentals and basic concepts clear .
Start from basics first .

For physics you need-

1) NCERT

2) One Basic level objective book like Dinesh , Pradeep, Universal or any other

3) DC Pandey's JEE Main and advance book which come in many parts.( ONLY AFTER FINISHING THE BASIC LEVEL BOOK)

4) Previous year papers of JEE Main and AIPMT (chapter wise)

At the beginning must study the theory and concepts from ncert sincerely. You may take help of any other reference books for theory.
Then solve the problems from any basic level mcq book .Only after solving basic questions and   having the Chapter's fundamental concepts clear move on to the same chapter given in DC Pandey's book.
While solving the problems always make the diagram.
Do not skip or take vectors lightly , this the tool which you will need in physics at many places .

Practice the previous year paper in exam like environment .
Try to solve the 45 question in 45 minutes.
Make your own formula note book and keep revising the formulas.
Many questions are formula based in the NEET and even sometimes just formula is asked in some question.
If you have the concepts, many times you do not need to solve the problems .

Giving proper exam simulated test is very important . As it makes you aware about the time limit and it will reduce your exam related fear. After each test must evaluate your self where you are lagging behind.

I suggest to join test series of good institute so that you can keep up the pace for the whole 2 years.

NEET need proper understanding of concepts and fast problem solving attitude . Try to find reason behind every thing , every questions , every facts . Only learning and solving same type of problems can not take you through the exams .

FOR THE STUDENTS PREPARING WITHOUT COACHING AND GUIDANCE I WILL UPLOAD NOTES , VARIOUS MEMORY AIDS AND TIPS . IF YOU WANT THESE PLEASE DO COMMENT  HERE IN COMMENT BOX OR MAIL ME.

FOR THE STUDENTS WHO ARE DROPPING FOR NEET

STOP COMPARING YOURSELF WITH YOUR FRIENDS OR ANYONE NOT IN YOUR FIELD.
Many of the student after taking drop used to compare their position with their school classmates who have taken other path for life like Engineering, Humanities etc. Do not compare yourself with them.Just look to your friends who have got selected in MBBS entrance exams, see how much they studied.

You have taken drop now so just forget about anything else and just focus on your exam and studies. Do not think like " ki agr maine bio nhi le hoti maths liya hota to mai b engineer hota ya DU me humanities pdh rha hota" etc.

Becoming a doctor is not an easy task. And after all when you get into a medical college no one cares how much attempt you have taken. Also there is a great chance that you can make up this drop during PG entrance as that is more tougher than this. There may arise a possibility that one of your friend who got admitted in mbbs in his/her very 1st attempt but took 3-4 attempt to qualify PG entrance exam. After all it is well known that doing mbbs is not enough for becoming a well established doctor at present. No one goes to seek help of simply MBBS Doctor.

So forget about your number of attempts if you want to be a doctor just give your 100% . But do not waste time in fooling yourself that you are working hard.
There are many students who just make themself feel that they are working very hard and studying sincerely .
Stop pretending.

"MISTAKES ARE MEANT FOR LEARNING NOT REPEATING " this is the core thing which every dropper must understand and be aware of.
There are many students preparing for NEET/AIIMS and taking their 1st drop or 2nd,3rd,4th,5th may be even more. Repeating mistakes is the most common feature in every dropper.

Like -not analysing own weakness
        - skipping classes
        - not taking tests seriously
-not having faith in the coaching system and just looking for other coaching materials
        - buying new books every year solving no book perfectly
-taking biology as their strong and most easy subject
-using mobile for every other function but study
-calculating the weightage of topics and skipping the topic which they find difficult.
for e.g they assume 15 question out of 45 question ORGANIC SE AEGA JIS ME MAI 14     CORRECT KAR LUNGA ....15 question INORGANIC SE AENGE JIS ME MAI 10 CORRECT KR LUNGA AUR 15 question PHYSICAL SE RHNGE JIS ME MAI 5-6 TO BS THEORY RAT K KR LUNGA...YANI APPROXIMATELY MAI 30 QUESTION KR SAKTA HU BINA PHYSICAL K QUESTION PRACTICE KIYE
If you will keep repeating all these mistakes you will never be able to score good marks in NEET.

If you have joined a coaching have faith in them and attend all classes, take every test as NEET.

Many of students hear that this and that boy got selected in to NEET/AIPMT and he solved H.C VERMA  OR  HALLIDAY or P. BAHADUR etc and they just go to shop and buy these books.
Before buying any book analyse your position on subject . Best way to analyse is to observe the marks obtained in test or the type of mistakes you do during problem solving.
If in tests you do not have any idea about how to attempt to solve the question that means you are weak in concepts .If you find that you need more time to solve the paper that means you need to practise a lot under given stipulated time.
After having all these analysis think about which book suits you for your need.
If you are week in concepts firstly attend the class regularly and attentively.Solve your coaching package and any basic books like DINESH, UNIVERSAL,JPNP,MAHESH JAIN etc and along with it JEE MAIN PREVIOUS YEAR PAPERS .
If the problem is speed you need to practise in exam like simulated fixed time duration.Solve previous year papers of AIPMT,JEE MAIN only under fixed time duration. Do not get distracted by anything during this time, Keep mobile phones off and just sit in a calm place.
If basics are clear but the time is problem do books of JEE MAIN level like DC PANDEY or any coaching's package of JEE MAIN.

Next big problem with most of the pmt aspirants is they think that they are lord of the biology. Stop considering yourself a biology genius. Students do most of negatives in bio section. Biology has 50% weightage in NEET . Do not take it lightly. At least give 2 hours to biology daily. Almost 80 out of 90 questions are directly from ncert. But those days are gone when questions only based on facts are asked . Now concept based questions are in trend .

Aspirants who have not joined any coaching do not feel less competent than others . Coaching only provides guidance, you have to study yourself. Most important thing is sincere study in appropriate style.

Do not indulge in any activity other than recreational for yourself and study.

Doubts on any matter related to study method and study are invited.

HOW TO SELF STUDY AT HOME FOR NEET and
Topic wise posts will follow soon for every subject with NOTES.
